On 20 September 2021, scientists at Northumbria University in the UK have successfully developed a new photovoltaic product called Solar2Water. The product extracts water from air humidity to produce drinkable water by using photovoltaic power generation technology. Compared to conventional atmospheric water generators, the Solar2Water can produce twice as much water as conventional water generators and can operate efficiently with the same energy input regardless of air humidity.
